Dealing with Adversity

October 1990 my life was shaken at the age of 18 when my Mom passed away in a tragic helicopter crash in Mesquite, Texas.  I still remember the exact moment when I received a call telling me that I had to get to work ASAP as my Uncle Jerry was there looking for me.  When I hung up the phone and said I was on my way I had a sick feeling in my stomach that something was terribly wrong with my Mom.

As I arrived, my Uncle told me to get in the car as we needed to go to his parents house ASAP.  As we arrived, the front of the house was taken over by vehicles.  I then knew it was bad.  Confirmation for me at the time was watching the Dallas newscast where they announced the passing of my Mom and details of the accident.

Not going into details of the accident, it is important that we put our faith in God and allow God to handle our problems!  Stop trying to do everything on your own! Trust him in all things and his timing is always perfect!  All things work for the glory of God as long as you put your trust in him.

Even though these times are tough, I guarantee that if you put your trust in God everything will be OK!

Here are some versus from Gods word that may help you or those that you know who may be facing trials in their life today:

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”” John 16:33 https://www.bible.com/bible/114/JHN.16.33

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” James 1:2-4 https://www.bible.com/bible/114/JAS.1.2-4

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 https://www.bible.com/bible/114/PRO.3.5-6

The book of JOB video

I ran across this bible teaching series on wisdom using the Bible app and just had to share. How do you trust God even when life isn’t fair and you suffer for no good reason? Job’s story invites us to consider what it means that God runs the world by wisdom, and how this truth can bring peace in dark times.
